TIANJIN, China, Sept. 18, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--

China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (hereinafter referred to as the "Eco-City") is a significant cooperative project between the governments of China and Singapore. It is also the world's first eco-city developed through intergovernmental collaboration, with construction commencing on September 28, 2008. Over the past fifteen years, with joint efforts from both China and Singapore, the Eco-City has become a thriving and sustainable home on the once salt-alkali wasteland.

The Eco-City has firmly established an ecological value system of respecting nature, expanding green development, and pursuing economic growth. After 15 years of development and construction, it has seen a built-up area of 22 square kilometers, a green coverage area of 11 million square meters, and the proportion of nearshore waters with excellent water quality reaching 100%, earning it the National Practical Innovation Base for Turning Lush Mountains and Lucid Waters into Gold and Silver and an Exemplary Case of a "Beautiful Bay". Furthermore, it has constructed the zero-carbon smart energy town, promoted the use of prefabricated and passive buildings, and attracted institutions involved in green building materials, equipment manufacturing, and design consulting, thereby forming a complete upstream, midstream, and downstream industry chain and witnessing an annual revenue of over RMB15 billion, according to China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Administrative Committee.

The Eco-City has firmly grasped the direction of building a modern industrial system, resulting in dominant industrial clusters such as intelligent technology services, cultural and health tourism, and green building and development. It has seen the number of market entities exceeding 28,000, with the proportion of industrial tax revenue reaching 76%. The Eco-City has attracted a number of prestigious institutions and high-quality projects, including China Nuclear Industry University and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, with over 40% of investments coming from Beijing's enterprises.

The Eco-City has deeply embraced the development philosophy of putting people first to persistently ensure and improve people's livelihoods while continuously enhancing their sense of happiness, fulfillment, and security. The resident population in the region has exceeded 130,000, with the number of students in schools and kindergartens reaching 35,000, which shows the growing attractiveness and influence of the city.

In terms of education, the Eco-City has introduced high-quality educational resources such as Tianjin Nankai High School and Tianjin Foreign Languages School affiliated to Tianjin Foreign Studies University. In the fields of healthcare services, it has made dedicated efforts to attract renowned hospitals and doctors while continuously optimizing healthcare resources.

HONG KONG, Sept 13 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Hong Kong’s legendary Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance roars back to life this Mid-Autumn Festival, reigniting the flames of this revered ritual for the first time since 2019. Scheduled to take place on three consecutive nights from 28th to 30th September 2023, the flamboyant dance will feature more than 300 performers parading a majestic 67-metre-long dragon through the grid-like streets of the charming Tai Hang district.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230911793495/en/

This year’s event will feature a number of exciting new elements, including a special performance by next-generation dragon performers, a LED giant flower plaque with a dragon head near the entrance for photo opportunities, and an extended viewing zone to accommodate more spectators along Wun Sha Street and Tung Lo Wan Road. The history and significance of the event can also be discovered during the daytime at the recently opened Tai Hang Fire Dragon Heritage Centre, which provides a fascinating insight into the 143-year-old tradition.

The dragon’s intricate construction requires over a month of dedicated hard work by a team of skilled and experienced craftspeople, who create the dragon by hand using pearl straw, rattan and hemp rope. Comprising 32 segments, the body of the dragon is adorned with 12,000 illuminated incense sticks, with the head alone weighing 50 kilograms. This smoky, fiery spectacle is found uniquely in Hong Kong, making it a one-of-a-kind display.

CORPAY CROSS-BORDER UNLOCKS REAL TIME TRACKING WITH PAYMENTS GPS

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Corpay, a FLEETCOR brand and global leader in business payments announced its Cross-Border business has launched Payments GPS, a proprietary tracking technology that allows clients and partners to monitor payments in real time.

Leveraging best-in-class technologies, including SWIFT Global Payments Innovation (GPI), Payments GPS allows for a comprehensive infrastructure for clients and partners to continuously monitor payments.

It provides an intuitive user experience, application programming interface (API) Suite and push notifications, making payment tracking more convenient than ever before, according to a statement.

“Payments GPS marks the first step in our endeavours to build comprehensive infrastructure aimed at increasing transparency throughout the payment process,” said Corpay Cross-Border Solutions President, Mark Frey.

Meanwhile, its Chief Product Officer, Corinne MacMillan said: “We have witnessed a high demand for transparency in the cross-border payments space. Our vision for Payments GPS is to provide clients and partners with one interface where they can track all payments across Corpay’s networks.”

Prior to the launch of Payments GPS, understanding the status of payments would require senders to call in or request a payment investigation offline, a process that could take days.

Payments GPS drastically reduces these manual touchpoints by providing full details on the payment status, associated fees and any necessary documents clients may need to upload on a centralised platform.

Japanese scallops (we say HOTATE [Hoh-Tah-Teh]) are highly accredited for their flavor, size, and quality. Fresh scallops can be enjoyed year-round by virtue of environmentally friendly farming/harvesting methods and the advanced technology to maintain freshness—both of which are unique to Japan. Especially in Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, and Miyagi where scallops are produced, local ocean currents provide highly rich nutrients, boasting one of the world’s largest landings of scallops.

Scallops are also known as a healthy seafood. They are rich in nutrients such as vitamin B1, which is effective in alleviating fatigue and improving concentration, and taurine, which is known to improve heart and liver function and help to prevent diabetes. Furthermore, scallops are high in protein and low in calories, making them fit to be a superfood.

Japan is unique to other parts of the world in that the proximity of fishing grounds and ports allow for scallops to be processed and distributed immediately after they are caught, and it has become a common custom in Japan for scallops to be eaten raw. Today, scallops are rapidly frozen right after landing, allowing overseas distribution while maintaining quality.

Exports of “Japanese scallop products” from Japan to other countries reached a record high of 94.5 billion JPY (approx. 128,000 tons in weight) in 2022, surpassing double its value (over 1.6 times in weight) of that of 2020, when markets stalled due to COVID-19.

Through this exhibition, we aim to further expand the export of Japanese scallops and spread the traditional Japanese style of ‘eating raw’ to fully taste the rich nutrients of scallops. At our booth, a meeting space and the information of products and the production area are provided, as well as exhibits of frozen/room temperature products, and sampling of Japanese scallops.
