Bitget Releases January 2026 Proof of Reserves, Demonstrating Strength Through Market Volatility

VICTORIA, Seychelles, Jan 28 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bitget, the world’s largest Universal Exchange (UEX), has published its January 2026 Proof of Reserves (PoR), reaffirming full backing of user assets during a month marked by heightened market volatility and shifting investor sentiment. The snapshot covers BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC, with user balances and reserve coverage published on the PoR transparency page alongside wallet attestations and a self-check tool that lets account holders verify inclusion using anonymized identifiers.

Despite turbulence across global crypto markets over the past several weeks, Bitget continues to maintain a total reserve ratio well above the 1:1 benchmark, ensuring that all user balances across core assets are fully covered. The January snapshot shows user assets of 14,189 BTC, 179,941 ETH, 1,682,952,107 USDT and 133,804,760 USDC. The reserve ratios are 254% for BTC, 100% for USDT, 161% for ETH, and 113% for USDC, each marked well-above sufficient reserves, with an average reserve ratio of 163%.

“Transparency matters most when markets are unsettled,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “January tested the industry with volatility and fast-moving sentiment. What stands out is that Bitget remained fully backed while users continued to engage, rebalance, and grow their holdings. Proof of Reserves is not a marketing moment, it is our operational standard that has to hold up when conditions are unpredictable.”

Even as markets reacted to macro uncertainty and rapid price swings, Bitget’s reserve structure remained resilient, ensuring uninterrupted access and asset security for its global user base. Bitget’s Proof of Reserves operates alongside its Protection Fund and monthly disclosures as part of a broader security framework. Through Merkle root verification, users can confirm their individual balances without exposing personal data, combining cryptographic assurance with user privacy.

As Bitget advances its Universal Exchange vision, bringing crypto, tokenized assets and onchain markets into a single trading environment, ongoing transparency remains foundational. Regular PoR reporting provides users with a clear, verifiable view into platform health, reinforcing trust at scale even as market cycles move.

“Taste Hong Kong,” a Chef-Curated Gourmet Guide to the City’s True Culinary Soul

More than 50 master chefs handpick 250 restaurants to showcase the authentic flavours of Hong Kong’s neighbourhoods

HONG KONG, Jan 23 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hong Kong’s longstanding reputation as one of the world’s great food cities has been built on contrast — a destination where humble street stalls sit comfortably alongside polished Michelin-starred dining rooms, and where “Great Taste” can be found everywhere in Hong Kong. This season, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) celebrates the city’s rich culinary culture with the launch of Taste Hong Kong, a new gourmet guide developed in collaboration with the Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) that invites visitors to experience the city through the eyes — and appetites — of its master chefs.

Taste Hong Kong is a chef-curated culinary guide to the city’s diverse neighbourhoods. More than 50 master chefs — all graduates of CCI’s prestigious Master Chef Course in Chinese Cuisine — have collectively handpicked 250 restaurants throughout Hong Kong, shining a spotlight on the places they return to time and again. The guide offers a comprehensive and refined overview of the city’s culinary landscape, highlighting a rich tapestry of Chinese cuisines alongside an array of international flavours, from traditional noodle shops and classic dessert parlours to family run local gems, artisanal cafés, upscale hotel restaurants, and Michelin-starred fine dining destinations. Going beyond conventional rankings and accolades, the guide provides an authoritative, insider perspective on the city’s most authentic and distinctive gastronomic experiences.

At the heart of Taste Hong Kong are the chefs themselves. As the creative minds behind some of Hong Kong’s most celebrated dining rooms, they bring a rare perspective on what defines a great meal — and what makes a restaurant endure. Among them are acclaimed figures such as Adam Wong and Lee Man-sing, who have each contributed personal recommendations that reflect both their culinary roots and their deep connection to Hong Kong’s dining culture.

“When I think about Hong Kong food, I think about the neighbourhood places I always go back to — dai pai dongs, cha chaan tengs and small restaurants that define the city’s everyday dining culture. These spots reflect how locals really eat and the city’s culinary soul. I am excited to be part of this guide because it gives visitors a genuine way to experience Hong Kong through the food and neighbourhoods that locals know and love,” says Adam Wong, a 3-star Michelin Executive Chef at the Forum Restaurant.

“I have always believed that some of Hong Kong’s best food is found in the simplest settings, whether it’s a comforting bowl of noodles or hot pot shared with friends. The restaurants highlighted in Taste Hong Kong are places with history, consistency and heart. They show why Hong Kong is one of the world’s most exciting cities to eat in,” says Lee Man-sing, Executive Chef of Mott 32 Group.

Designed for both visitors and locals, Taste Hong Kong organises its 250 restaurant picks by neighbourhood. With various neighbourhoods represented, travellers are encouraged to venture beyond well-trodden dining districts and experience the distinctive character of each area. From sizzling woks in bustling street kitchens to quiet neighbourhood favourites passed down through generations, the chefs’ selections offer visitors and locals a deeper insight into Hong Kong’s rich culinary heritage and vibrant diversity, guiding them to the true “Great Taste” of the city.

The guide is supported by a rich suite of digital content, including neighbourhood videos and curated maps, hosted on the campaign’s dedicated website. A downloadable digital edition of the Taste Hong Kong guide will also be available, serving as an easy-to-use companion for planning meals and neighbourhood discovery. QR codes will be displayed at various MTR stations, bus shelters and visitor signage across neighbourhoods. HKTB will also broadcast the “Taste Hong Kong promotional video at major tourist hotspots, and prominent shopping malls and hotels across the city, reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a global gourmet capital where exceptional food can be found everywhere — often in the most unexpected places.

To discover the full Taste of Hong Kong guide and begin your culinary adventure, visit tastehk.discoverhongkong.com. Xtep Forms JV To Accelerate Malaysia Expansion

Comprehensive Channel Upgrade! Xtep Leverages Southeast Asian Foothold to Advance Global Running Footwear Strategy

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Running shoe brand Xtep has entered a joint venture (JV) with Bonia, a Malaysia-based distributor with more than five decades of market experience, marking a strategic push to accelerate its growth in Malaysia and strengthen its position in Southeast Asia.

The move signals a shift in Xtep’s local operating model from a single exclusive distributor to a multi-channel strategy, according to a statement.

As part of the transition, former exclusive partner VGO will become a “non-exclusive distributor” and remain a key collaborator, leveraging its established strengths to deepen Xtep’s market reach.

Bonia will focus on expanding Xtep’s presence in prime commercial districts and major running hubs across Malaysia, while VGO continues to support the brand through channels where it holds a competitive advantage. Analysts view the partnership as a catalyst for Xtep’s ambition to become Southeast Asia’s leading running brand.

Malaysia is widely considered as Xtep’s launchpad for broader regional expansion, aligning with the company’s “Chinese Root, World-Class Running Shoes” strategy unveiled in 2022. Bonia’s regional footprint spans Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, supported by long-standing relationships with major shopping centres and strong cross-border retail capabilities.

The first flagship store under the Xtep–Bonia partnership has opened at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur. The 3,262-square-foot professional running store features function-based product displays, a trial running zone, and foot shape and gait analysis services, offering runners an immersive, technology-driven experience.

Malaysia’s growing running culture underpins the strategy. According to World Bank and Euromonitor International data, the country hosts Southeast Asia’s largest sportswear and footwear market, while a 2023 national survey found jogging to be the most popular sport among Malaysians, with the 2024 Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon drawing over 40,000 participants.

Since entering Malaysia in 2024, Xtep has pursued a “professional-to-mass influence” approach, engaging local communities through races and events, including the Penang “10KM Time Challenge” that attracted international elite runners.

With the new joint venture, Xtep positions Malaysia as both a strategic growth hub and a showcase for its global running ambitions.
